Influenza (Flu) Vaccines

2021 VACCINE

The 2021 vaccine is not yet available. We expect stock late March or early April. Check bac here for when vaccines have arrived.

PATIENTS AGED 10 – 64

We currently do not have stock available for patients aged 10 – 64. We are vaccinating between 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 2pm on Saturdays. No appointment is required. Please ensure that you are well before you attend and that you bring your medicare card.

*Please note if you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, are pregnant, or have certain medical risk factors you may be eligible to receive a free flu vaccination each year through the National Immunisation Program through your GP or community clinic.


PATIENTS AGED 65+

We currently do not have stock and for patients aged 65 and over. Contact us, We are vaccinating between 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 2pm on Saturdays. No appointment is required. Please ensure that you are well before you attend and that you bring your medicare card. Cost of vaccination is $10.

*Those aged 65 years or over can receive a free flu vaccination via their GP under the Australian Government’s National Immunisation Program. Please note that while the vaccine itself is free, your GP may charge a consultation fee.

2020 STRAINS

Based on World Health Organisation recommendations the 2020 quadrivalent flu vaccines for those aged 10-64 will offer protection against the following four virus strains;

A (H1N1): an A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus

A (H3N2): an A/South Australia/34/2019 (H3N2)-like virus

B: a B/Washington/02/2019-like (B/Victoria lineage) virus

B: a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like (B/Yamagata lineage) virus

The 2020 quadrivalent flu vaccine available under the National Immunisation Program for people aged 65 years and over will offer protection against the following four virus strains;

A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09 – like virus (A/Brisbane/02/2018 IVR-190): 15 micrograms HA* per dose

A/South Australia/34/2019 (H3N2) – like virus (A/South Australia/34/2019 IVR-197): 15 micrograms HA* per dose

B/Washington/02/2019 – like virus (B/Victoria/705/2018 BVR-11): 15 micrograms HA* per dose

B/Phuket/3073/2013 – like virus (B/Phuket/3073/2013 BVR-1B): 15 micrograms HA* per dose

*HA = haemagglutinin
